Methodist Playgroup |

Mickleover Methodist
Playgroup is a Church based group which has been in existence since
1967. We welcome children from Mickleover and any surrounding
areas. The Playgroup is registered with and annually inspected by
Ofsted and we receive LEA funding which enables eligible 3 and 4 year
olds to have free places. |
 |
| Our
aim is to create a happy, caring environment, where children and parents
feel welcome. |
 |
In our playgroup, experiences and activities are
planned to create a free-play environment in which children can develop
their early skills. Our emphasis is for the children to learn
through play, because we believe play is the most effective way for
children to use new learning. They can try out new ideas, pretend to
be different people and test new information in their own way. |
Every term we work with a central topic or
theme. We use the theme to incorporate and build on the interests, knowledge and experience that the
children may already have. Children are given the opportunity to
look at ideas in a variety of ways. Further details of the curriculum are available. |

The playgroup uses the specially designed crèche
area in the Church Centre and one half of the Youth Hall.
It also has a large enclosed outside area which had a
soft surface for safe outdoor play.

The playgroup is open to all children aged between
two and a half and five years. |
