MICKLEOVER METHODIST CHURCH

The Mickleover Methodist Church Logo represents the Church reflecting the love of Christ on the Cross by welcoming the whole community to share in the Methodist Church Centre      history

Methodism has been active in Mickleover since the beginning of the 19th Century.  The first Chapel on the current site was constructed in 1914 to replace the original Wesleyan Methodist Church which was built on The Green in 1820.  Opening of the original Chapel in 1914

In 1932 the Primitive Methodist Church in Park Road closed and joined the Wesleyans as part of Methodist Union.
Significant extensions were made in 1954 and 1969 to provide a centre for the fast growing Mickleover community at that time.   Modernisation of 1968-9

In the early 1990s it became clear that the building was deteriorating and was inadequate to meet the future needs. Plans for redevelopment started, including fund raising and the purchase of property adjoining the Chapel.

The new Methodist Church Centre, completed in 2001, retains the Large Hall from the old building, and the Cross and Organ from the previous Chapel are installed in the new Worship Centre

A booklet showing more details of the history is available from the Church Office - price £1.00
